DAGMAR S/S 2010

A week or so ago, I featured the item in picture one in a post about denim jackets. Since that time, I've been introduced to the House of DAGMAR brand who is the jacket's creator. Their website (www.houseofdagmar.se) plays host to a collection which consists of chic and easy pieces such as ample tops, a particularly unique, structured tuxedo jacket that first appears as a wrap, along with colorful, breezy maxis and ruched and ruffled separates.

I'm also loving their tapered leg pants, dresses and minis. This is indeed one of my favorite collections of the season, as each piece stands individually, without so much of that "clone effect" that you see with some collections. Below I've included the company's Bio.

The designers’ philosophy
A garment from Dagmar enhances the wearer’s personal look and gives a feeling of modern individualism. Many of the clothes are handmade or carry handmade details. To embrace the handicraft and make use of old knowledge is an important part in the creative work with the collections. The recurring Dagmar theme, the colours and historical inspiration, you’ll find in the Art Deco era of the 1920’s and ’30’s.

Facts
When the Swedish design label Dagmar was launched in spring 2005, it received wide attention by the Swedish media. Dagmar was awarded the price ‘Rookie of the year’, for the spring ‘05 collection, and in September ‘05 the price ‘Garbohatten’, in the name of Greta Garbo. In February 2006 Dagmar was also awarded ‘Best new designer of the year' by the Swedish Elle Magazine.

The label is created and run by three sisters - Kristina Tjäder, Karin Söderlind and Sofia Malm. The brand continues with a launch of the label in the USA and Japan in autumn ’06.

With a strong emphasis on quality and a tailored touch, Dagmar unites knitwear, jersey and woven jumpers, dresses, jackets, sweatshirts, skirts, tops and accessories such as hats and scarves. For the autumn 2006 collection a woven line with a “vintage couture” look was added to conclude the collection.

Dagmar is equivalent of femininity, humour and quality. A Dagmar item emphasizes on the wearers personal style and creates a modern opening for individualism. Excellent handicraft with a tailored touch will give the wearer a feeling of sensualism and enhance her energy.

Dagmar was the name of the sister’s grandmother – the muse and big inspiration source. She worked as a tailor and was always very chic and feminine.

The knowledge of quality, the feeling of glamour and tailoring makes the essence of Dagmar.
