Steven Meisel for Jimmy Choo

The great photographer has done his first campaign for the brand founded by Tamara Mellon.

Romantic moments, forbidden moments: a couple meet in a room in New York’s historic Waldorf Astoria.

The ad, with its vaguely 70s atmosphere, is the new Jimmy Choo FW 2011/12 campaign.

Designed by the brand’s founder, Tamara Mellon, and shot by Steven Meisel – doing his first ad for Jimmy Choo – it stars Raquel Zimmermann.
The supermodel plays a mysterious, sensual woman modelled on the great icons of 70s Paris like Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Rampling and Veruschka – women beautiful in front of the camera, and gorgeous and naturally elegant in everyday life.

“This season I looked to the women who have always inspired me for their chic, empowered sense of dress,” said Tamara Mellon, the brand’s creative director. “The creative talent of Meisel transports us to a moment of stolen romance, perfectly capturing my vision for the season and the energy and spirit of the Jimmy Choo woman.”

Several of the season’s cult pieces appear in the campaign: the Catharine bag in soft black leather and leopard print pony, the shrewish, black Flora boot with lattice and open toes, and the Flaxely black suede shoe boot that crosses over the foot and wraps around the ankle.
