Daphne Descends

Sardinian designer Laura L. has chosen the name Daphne Descends for her jewelry line. The nymph Daphne served as inspiration as did the sad legend of how she was transformed into a laurel tree after fleeing from Apollo. Laura L., who worked and created art in Milan for many years, decided to return home to get her project underway.

The collection has necklaces, bracelets and rings that take inspiration from mythology to reinterpret the visionary artist's world. The jewels are true works of contemporary art and are strictly one-off pieces created with natural materials 'borrowed' from the Sardinian coast. She uses plant roots and pomegranate seeds as well as pieces of rough bark like new filigree along with dried fruit and flowers woven with silk.

These gifts of nature are mixed with gold, bronze, copper and stones, such as onyx, amethyst and rock crystal. These and other elements are modeled utilizing particular techniques to take on the most varied range of looks.True metamorphoses that take inspiration from Mother Earth and are then reinterpreted with refined techniques, creativity and craftsmanship. Jewels that are meant for a woman who is a fighter, who is reborn from the ashes, an urban witch who doesn't give up, a priestess of today's modern times - a creature who is absolutely unique.
