Maristella Colombo - Maiden Art
"After getting my degree in Art Direction at the The International College of Arts and Sciences of Milan, I got a Masters in Fashion Design at the Istituto Marangoni of London and diplomas in Textile Design and Fashion Business & Management at the London College of Fashion in London, I did research and development for the kidswear collection of the Brums line of Preca Brummel, for the women's collection of Boudicca, in London, and for the Susan Cianciolo brand of New York.
As a designer and artist I've participated in different expositions and festivals, both national and international, like the BJCEM Biennale of Young European and Mediterranean Artists, the Spanish festival of Digital Art, ARTECH MEDIA, the International Salon of Young Artists in Alessandria, Egypt, and the “Trophée des Créateurs de Mode” in Cannes thanks to the sponsorship of Movin’up – GAI (Associazione Giovani Artisti Italiani). I was also a planning docent of the collections, fashion history and trench research at the IED in Milan and Turin.”
"I'm working on the launch of the new online shop, Maiden-Art, where it will be possible to purchase the collection Take me into your skin from Spring/Summer 2011, together with one-of-a-kind, and limited edition pieces exclusively for the online shop. There will be my illustrations and photographs in the Art Pieces section. I'm also working on the Fall/Winter 2011/12 collection of Maiden-Art, that includes an important artistic project that includes different media like photography, video installations and live performance."
"To open a Maiden-Art in Milan."
Your personal style
"I love black and I love dressing in black and white, pairing men's items, like leather ties, suspenders or bow ties with super feminine pieces like skinny jeans and high heels. A black sheath dress is also fundamental.”
Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Boudicca, Ann Demeulemeester, A.F. Vandervorst, Maison Martin Margiela.
Your style icons
"Karl Lagerfeld, for everything: for his personal style, for his capacity to be an artist in so many areas. He's an amazing photographer, director, designer and illustrator. And he's extraordinary classy.”
What inspires you
“The fog on the lake, the rocky shores of the Aran islands in Ireland, the fairytale landscapes of Northern Europe, Iceland, the contrast of Japan, the electricity of New York.”
Your creations are…
"Complex, dreamlike, sweet but also strong and decisive."
A special thanks to…
Gabriele Negri, for the development and realization of the Maiden-Art collections.
Knowing how to smile.
The biggest dream
"Developing Maiden-Art as a lifestyle line: from accessories, to clothing to the home to cosmetics.”
