Spring/Summer Casuals

For those times when one needs something beyond the flat sandal or thongs/flip flops, a cute sneaker or espadrille flat fits the bill. You know, the outdoor concerts/festivals, picnics etc. Though slip on sneakers reign supreme, The classic Converse also ranks high among the fashionable. As you will see here, Converse has upped it's game by creating some jazzier styles.  Tie-dyed, studded, and eyelet to name a few. My current favorite is the slip on.....I ordered the style from Joe Fresh, which I expect to wear with many looks. I also lovvvvvvve those by Chiara Ferragni (The Blonde Salad) and Steve Madden, but can't justify spending $139 for them.

The coolest of the cool? Vans. Check out those from Zappos (the last six pair), I want them all! Especially the Vans x Beatles version and those with daisies that say "love me, love me not" on the sides. Hopefully you see something that you like as well!

The New Ready-To-Wear Collection from Coach

Coach has launched it's first ever ready-to-wear collection, which debuted at New York Fashion Week. Here's a sneak peek, along with a bit of commentary from designer Stuart Devers.

The fall 2014 collection was unveiled today in New York on the first day of fashion week. Designed by Stuart Vevers, the house's buzzy new executive creative director, the collection references classic American sportswear and workwear. The British-born Vevers, an alum of Loewe and Mulberry, immersed himself in the heritage of the Coach brand and various Americana before presenting the collection in front of a giant photo of an Oregon street from 1979 by Joel Sternfeld.

Standout pieces include the leather toggle coat, dusty blue shearling jacket, grommeted skirts—and of course gorgeous bags and shoes, ranging from shearling lined wedge bootie to a suede cross body bag with whipstitching and signature turn lock closure. It's high fashion and luxury, but has a wearbale feel. These are clothes you'll want to wear for work and weekend.

"My biggest objective was to set a direction that felt authentic to moved forward and offer something unique in the market," Stuart told me. "That means juxtaposing references, like authentic workwear with New York style and coolness."

Stuart said that he looks at all sorts of women for inspiration, but that his barometer for whether women will like his designs is his longtime friend who is a lawyer. "She's into fashion, but she's not obsessed with it," said Stuart. "I always talk to her about what she wants and what she's looking for and you know what's the kind of thing that that she last wanted to have." (Glamour magazine)
