ADDING A BAG: After 10 years in the business, Alice + Olivia is introducing handbags to its offering of contemporary apparel and footwear. The brand’s designer, Stacey Bendet Eisner, said she wanted to perfect the other categories before she turned her attention to bags. “I like doing things one step at a time,” she said. “I’m a part of all of it. If we’re too scattered, I can’t give my full attention.”
The brand, which is on course to bring in $175 million in retail sales in 2012, is releasing three bag styles, named the Olivia, See and D, as well as clutches for spring. Clutches will start at $220, while the larger bags, which come in five different colors and various skins, including snake and lizard, will start at $495.
Bag shapes include a rectangular tote, a square day bag and a chic satchel.
