The Top Ten Party Dresses of All Time

1. We have Hepburn and her Holly Golightly character from Breakfast at Tiffany’s to thank for making party prep less stressful—and way more stylish. A little black dress like the sleek Givenchy number she wore in the movie is as easy to wear as it is chic. And it’ll never go out of style.

2. When Marilyn cooled off with a subway-grate “breeze” in the 1955 classic The Seven Year Itch, more than a few gents were transfixed by her shapely bod. A high-waisted halter dress fits and flatters every body—even those without Monroe’s 37-23-36 measurements.

3. While the girl group holds an important place in the music hall of fame, we give these sirens major props for teaching us an important lesson in stealing the spotlight: Glittery sequins are always a DO. And if you’re going to be hanging around with your friends all night long, you’ll all look even cuter if you coordinate your outfits.

4. All eyes were on beautiful Princess Di as she twirled around the White House dance floor with a young John Travolta in 1985. The black gown-pearl choker combo? Timeless and totally elegant.

5. The nation was wowed watching President Barack Obama and the First Lady, who wore a custom-made Jason Wu one-shoulder style, take the stage on inauguration night in January 2009.

6. In case you had any doubts that Gisele Bündchen is the sexiest woman alive, check out this pic from the 2008 Met Ball. A dress similar to her scintillating nude Versace number is a good choice if you want all eyes on you.

7. At the 2000 Grammys, the sheer green palm-print Versace—and the songstress wearing it—stole the show. Ever since, we haven’t stopped obsessing about Lopez—or wondering just how she got her dress to stay put.

8. Can you say “one-shoulder trend”? Proof that one person’s beer-stained bed sheets can be another woman’s Emmy gown with the help of a lot of dry-cleaning and a few choice accessories, thanks in part to this iconic 1978 movie.

9. Pretty in Pink? Yup, she was. As Andie Walsh, actress Molly Ringwald proved that you don’t need money to have great style. Andie’s homemade pink prom dress not only scored her the approval of her high school crush Blane McDonough but also won her the hearts of a million teenagers.

10. For most people, it can be hard to take your own personal style into evening-gown territory, but then again, Rihanna is anything but average. The rocker and style rebel showed up at the 2008 Grammy Awards, where she took home a gold statue for her hit song Umbrella, sporting a spunky hairdo plus an absolutely gorgeous Zac Posen knee-length blue frock (and orange nails)!

I totally Agree! The only exception would be the toga......now if I think of it in terms of the "one-shoulder" trend, I'm in agreement.
