Naeem Kahn joins wife Ranjana as one of the many designers "migrating" to HSN. Read more below.
So much for television shopping still carrying a stigma. Having partnered with HSN to create his first in a series of capsule collections, designer Naeem Khan has sold out each and every party-ready look from his holiday line in 10 minutes. The high-fashion designer, who typically caters to celebrities and couture-hoarding ladies with deep pockets to match, sold the ten styles that made up his HSN collection called "Timeless" shortly after they debuted on the network October 29. While the frenzy itself over Khan's designs (including a sequined mini-dress and tuxedo jacket) is worth noting, the truly surprising part of the sale is that the clothes were by no means cheap.
With dresses retailing around $500, the fact that some sold out in three minutes just goes to show that high-fashion designers doing diffusion lines has lost none of its appeal. And that goes for TV too. But Khan’s goods for HSN are not all gone: “several pieces remain available online, as a certain number of items are reserved exclusively for e-commerce sales,” says Fashion Week Daily. And, there will be more HSN frocks to come from Khan; he’ll do a second collection for HSN that he’s promised will include even more items. “‘HSN’ and ‘QVC’ have emerged as industry buzzwords, signifying a serious influx of cash for participating designers and a potential new revenue stream for those in need,” adds FWD. So don’t be surprised if shopping networks start to attract more and more designers with credible levels of cachet.
