"Button it, Zip it, Wrap it"

Okay, let's talk coats. I live in an area where we get all four seasons, so a good, warm sturdy coat is needed, usually by November. I love coats, so I have many....you know you have to have the short leather jacket that looks good with your jeans. Then there is the leather car coat that you wear to the office....then, you must have that puffer or down coat that you wear with your rubber or snow boots on those "sloppy" and slushy days. I want to go back to the puffer coat for just a minute, that is one coat that you have to really be careful with or you might end up looking like the Michelin man. Another wardrobe staple is the "fun" coat, you know the one....it may be brocade, tapestry or colorful, you know the one that really catches everyone's eye. And let me not forget the "cutesy" coat....it may be satin, ruffled or beautifully embellished. This is the coat that you wear over your dress or pants for a night out on the town.

For me, another must have is a cape that I can throw on When it's not too cold.....they have such a chic, classic look. Now the "real" winter coat has to be serious business. I have two that fight the wind and cold like no other. Both are vintage and I purchased them at the Goodwill store of $16.99 each. One is a Cheetah print faux fur swing coat, that everyone always touches and rubs when I wear it. The other is a blue and and gray tapestry coat with a gray fur collar...I've actully had men stop me when wearing that one. Those are my "heavy duty" coats that I accessorize with leather Opera length gloves. While I'm not looking forward to those really cold days, at least I'm prepared.
