Some are called oxfords and others brogues, as are those by Church's. Whatever they're name, they are back in a BIG way. It's been a few seasons since there was such an influx of oxfords, with designers such as Christian Louboutin jumping on the bandwagon. I must say that they have always been a personal favorite, as most wear very comfortably. I love the fact that they work with jeans or slacks. While I usually prefer the lace-ups, I ran across the Nina's (picture one) this weekend for $15 and I just had to have them. They sort of resemble an oddly shaped tap shoe, but the actual shoe is much better than the picture.
Not only was I drawn to them because of the price (endless.com has them on sale for $49.95), but I love the distressed look and plan to get much wear out of them over the coming months. Now I'm shopping around for the right pair of lace-ups; they can be a be tricky size-wise, so I'm hesitant to order a pair online. Some tend to run a bit wide on the sides to the point that they flare out, while others can be a bit narrow and will "put the squeeze" on your foot. For those reasons, I think I will shop locally for a pair that I can try on before buying.
