I was looking through some older issues of W magazine recently and couldn't believe that I missed an article in th September 2008 issue, written about Versace's line of jewelry. The article is Titled: "The Bold and the Beautiful" and is written by Priya Rao and says, with Versace's new baubles, less is definitely not more. While the house has dabbled in costume jewelry in the past, it ups the ante with this resort stash sprung directly from Donatella Versace's simple credo: "If one chooses to wear jewelry, it should be a statement and recognizable." Thus the 40-piece collection emphasizes grand proportions. A dusty golden cuff and an enormous cobalt cocktail ring are obvious examples, while even a smaller rhinestone bangle embellished with a single flower has a bling-y, look-at-me quality. But the most ostentatious of the unch has to be the brushed metal necklace. With it's dangling sundial-like gems punctuated by a generous chandelier, it looks perfect for a modern-day maharani.
