These ladies made the silver screen sizzle! Be they vixens, sirens or "bad girls" in film noir, they were some of the best.
- Lizabeth Scott was always perfect as the cigarette smoking bad girl of Film Noir.
- Beautiful Yvonne De Carlo sizzled in many films before her days as "Lili Munster".
- Who can forget Vivian Leigh in her most famous role as "Scarlett O'hara.
- Sultry Veronica Lake with her hair falling "strategically over one eye did her part for Film Noir.
- Susan Hayward was another force to be reckoned with. My personal favorite is "I'll Cry Tomorrow.
- Rita Hayworth, another beauty who was probably better known for the musicals that she starred in, as she started out as a dancer.
- Rhonda Fleming also graced the Film Noir genre with her smoldering beauty.
- Myrna Loy, a "wholesome beauty" has long been a favorite. I loved the combination of she and William Powell in the "Thin Man" series, but there is another movie called "thirteen women", where she played rather a sinister, exotic role.
- Olivia De Havilland had such range as an actress. No matter the character, she made you believe that she was really that person. I think my favorite is "The Heiress". In the movie "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, she showed "her evil side", as the greedy and deceitful cousin of Bette Davis
- Marie Windsor was the ultimate Film Noir bad girl. Most often greedy and calculating. She is definitely one of the best.
- This is one of the most beautiful pictures of Lucille Ball. She was a beautiful lady. Long before the "I Love Lucy" days, she modeled and then starred in movies. She was in one of my Film Noir favorites called "The Dark Corner". That movie showing her true acting ability, as there were no comedy sequences.
- Linda Darnell is another smoldering beauty. From Westerns to Film Noir she usually played a "woman of questionable character".
- Lauren Bacall. The word Icon comes to mind. she could appear "hard as nails" or a regal beauty.
- Lana Turner I will long remember for her movie wardrobe alone. Always immaculate on screen and off.
- Joan Fontaine actress with great range." Rebecca "and "Suspicion" both come to mind.
- Joan Crawford was the consummate actress. Sometimes you loved her, sometimes you hated her and other times you felt sorry for her Characters. One of my favorites is "Queen Bee". and the title suited her character.
- Jeanne Craine was another screen beauty who most often appeared with a quiet dignity.
- Jane Greer gave a more than stellar performance in the Film Noir movie "Out of the Past. Beautiful, evil and calculating.
- Gloria Grahame was another Film Noir Vixen. She was another who often played the role of a women of "uncertain character".
- Gorgeous Gene Tierney was another wonderful actress. She showed bit of a "nasty side" in the movie "The Razor's Edge".
- Ella Raines had the most beautiful eyes that just lit up on screen. Another Film Noir actress.
- Bette Davis. What is there to say, other than she was the "it actress" of her time. Not a great beauty, but always wonderful in each and every role that she played.
- Barbara Stanwyck was another wonderful actress. Many times cold and calculating she played her roles to the hilt. "Double Indemnity" and "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers are true classics.
- Barbara Payton was a starlet of a handful of "B-movies. She was sultry, sexy, and smoldering, but never reached he stardom of many other actresses. It has been written that she ended up destitute after her "movie career" ended.
- Who can forget Ava Gardner in the movie "The Killers". She was beyond beautiful. I read a piece written about her and was surprised to learn that she was married to Mickey Rooney before her "star days".
- Anne Baxter's calculating performance in "All about Eve" is one that won't be forgotten. She was also great in "The Razor's Edge.
- Ann Sheridan is another who acted in her share of Film Noir movies. I loved her straight forward, matter-of-fact characters.
- Last and certainly not the least, another of my all time favorites is Agnes Moorehead. Long before her "Bewitched" days she was wreaking havoc on the screen in movies such as the Film Noir classic "Dark Passage". She was cold, selfish and calculating, but "got hers" in the end as most of the bad ones did in those types of movies. I also loved her in "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, as the slatternly housekeeper with the perfect "southern dialect".
