Trends: Wide Leg Pants (Editor's Picks)
After seasons of squeezing into skinny jeans, to see superwide pants in stores brings, quite literally, a sigh of relief. They’re everything slim-cut styles are not: more roomy, for one, but also made in easy, breezy fabrics and bright, happy colors. Who needs Prozac after a long, cold winter when Jil Sander makes voluminous, hot-orange pants? Just seeing them can perk you up. But once you’ve actually put them on, will you lose your buzz? Even more importantly, what shoe do you wear?
A handful of Vogue editors have been debating the wearability of the new superwide leg. In one corner, loyalists like market editor Jessica Sailer who’s worn the look all along, always with a high heel to make her legs appear longer, and typically with a silk blouse tucked into a high-waist for a streamlined and sophisticated silhouette. In the other corner: shoppers like Vogue.com editorial producer Patricia Garcia, who was recently skeptical of a pair of full, ankle-length pants she saw at a store. “I thought I could never pull them off,” she says. We asked her to try a similar proportion by BCBG and she found that chic flats made all the difference. Here’s how Garcia and other Vogue staffers worked the wide leg.

As I mentioned a a couple of weeks ago, this is a trend that I absolutely love! A fitted tee or top is the perfect addition for a flattering silhouette.

For Your Viewing Pleasure
If money were no object....well, you know the rest! There have been recent articles alluding to the fact that spending on luxury goods is on the rebound. (For some, it never really slowed.) A good indication of that fact? Gucci's crocodile bag (picture two), priced at $14,500 is sold out on netaporter.com, as is Ralph Lauren's turquoise-embellished, metallic bag (picture four) which is priced at $3,995.
That said, check out Roberto Cavalli's Python and Crocodile flat sandal...such detail! It's my pick as one of the best of the season.
