I've read, as well as overheard, many a woman emphatically state that she is strictly a high heels wearer. Actually a good friend of mine falls into that category....she prides herself on being able to do a quick sprint when absolutely necessary. I think that many of us don't feel "dressed up" unless we have on our favorite high heels. Some of us love that "sexy vibe" along with the extra height that a good heel provides. A tall lean look with the semblance of good posture.
In addition, a lower heel (in some circles) is often associated with women of a certain age....after all, who doesn't want to appear fresh, hip, and happening! Now, in defense of lower heels, I personally love them! My thought is, if one wants to appear "dressed up" when wearing a lower heel, choose one which is itself dressy. Nine West's "Otay" is a perfect example....this particular shoe would work well as a bridal shoe or any black-tie event.
My preference is a nice sling with a kitten heel. I recently ordered Duro Olowu's version for JCP, which is the last pair on this page. Black satin with rhinestone embellishment....I consider it one of the best in the low-heeled shoe category....on the "low end" (price wise) that is. On the "high-end" side of things, I would go with Valentino and Manolo Blahnik. See what you think.
