Jimmy Choo Debuts Icons
Jimmy Choo launched a capsule collection of reinterpreted iconic styles Tuesday, along with the Jimmy Choo Foundation, an organization that aims to raise awareness about women’s issues.
The 10-piece line, aptly titled Icons, was inspired by 15 of the brand’s archival styles, including a violet feathered slingback from “Sex & the City” and a pointy toed stiletto worn by the brand’s founder and chief creative officer, Tamara Mellon, when she accepted her Order of the British Empire from the Queen of England. The shoes will be available in November.
“Tamara really looked through some of the shoes that made an impact, whether with celebrities or editorial over the course of 15 years,” said CEO Joshua Schulman. “What’s interesting about the project is that it shows over the 15-year history how some of the signatures remain, but now they’ve been modernized and look much more current.”
The brand also released a coffee-table book, “Jimmy Choo XV,” published by Rizzoli, that offers photos, sketches and behind-the-scenes shots of the brand’s 15 most memorable styles. The book will be available in Jimmy Choo stores in November, and at bookstores internationally in February.
One hundred percent of the revenues from the book and 10 percent of the net sales from the Icons collection will benefit the Jimmy Choo Foundation.
