Objects by Salvador Dali, masterpieces by Louise Bourgeois, a sculpture-like dress from 1997 by Rei Kawakubo and designs by Martin Margiela in which the phases of their creation become interesting details... Art&Fashion.
Between Skin and Clothing is the show at the Kunstmuseum in Wolfsburg running from March 5 to August 7. It tells of the path, the interplay and the boundaries of these two expressions of human creativity that are ever more interwoven. Since the 1960s, art and fashion have begun to share the same avant-garde spirit.
The beginning of Pop Art coincide with a fashion that was knowingly cultured, the inspiration for a new visual aesthetic. A path that became all the more solid in the following decades with, for example, the work of Yamamoto and Comme des Garçons, Hussein Chalayan and Viktor & Rolf just to name a few. Even the fashion show changed: it was no longer just about showing the clothing but became a moment for performance art.

It took me a few minutes to realize that the Martin Margiela piece is broken plates (still waking up)...how interesting. I would love to try it on....I wonder if it's heavy. I'd also like to view the Naomi Filmer piece from the front....I'm always amazed by such creativity.
