"The Lady is a Vamp"

At her 42nd birthday party in 1990, a radiant Grace Jones trades diva quips with supermodel-in-training, Naomi Campbell.

At a 1978 disco convention banquet (we have no idea what this means, either), Jones sported a glam-rock slash of glittery red eyeshadow, contoured blush and berry lips.

In 1985, Grace Jones showed up to Limelight’s fifth anniversary party rocking multi-layered violet eyeshadow, brick-red gloss and her signature veil. A whole lotta look, but Lady Jones pulls it off.

Jones adds some oomph to her signature buzz cut by adding a rolled, 1940s-era bang.

Jones stopped traffic at the 1983 Grammy Awards when she hit the red carpet wearing day-glo purple eyeshadow, kiss-me crimson lips and the headpiece to end all headpieces.

With her feline eyeliner, perfectly sculpted cheekbones and twisted macrame head piece, Jones looks every inch the edgy, haute couture queen.

I have always been a huge fan of Grace Jones......I love her hutzpah! Well known for her exotic fashion sense, she has been and will always be a true original. She commanded the runway with her chiseled cheekbones, taut body and signature buzz cut. She was a fixture at Studio 54 during the "Andy Warhol days" and went from model to singer to actress. Her sultry and gritty vocals on her 1981 disco hit "Pull Up to the Bumper" will go down in disco history as one of the best songs of the era.

I never tire of watching she and Christopher Walken in the James Bond movie "A View to a Kill." again, she commanded the screen as only she can.....tall, uniquely fashioned and a force to be reckoned with. You don't see as much of her these days, but when you do, she is still doing what she does best.....pushing the fashion envelope in a way that only she can.
