The fifth annual Renegade Craft Fair returns to Williamsburg this weekend, showcasing more than 300 designers, artists and painters. Though the event has always been a place to find affordable accessories, this year's lineup combines a slew of talented Etsy unknowns with local standouts like Digby, Iona, Species by the Thousands and Erica Weiner. The fair is taking place in McCarren Park instead of the McCarren pool locale with booths snaking along the soccer and softball fields. (The Cut) Following are a few of my favorites.
1. Journal necklaces by Black spot books-Each book is hand-stitched with linen thread, made of torn drawing paper and antique leather. The leather is sourced from a variety of Items, including nineteenth-century chairs from Europe, Victorian handbags, and a doctor's bag from the 1800's. I love these....I wouldn't wear any less than three at a time. I actually like the way that they appear on the mannequin in the picture.
2. Species by the Thousands Twig ring-this ring is created from reclaimed sterling silver and cast from a twig found in McCarren Park. How creative!
3. Marketa ruffled leather necklace-each necklace is created from lambskin and are available in antique gold, metallic black, champagne gold and metallic gray.
4. "Watch O'er You" and Such is Life" rings by Erica Weiner-Both are modified from ninteenth-century wax seals, which Weiner found at an antique shop. The "Watch O'er Me" ring has a ruby eye.
